Reveal Your Heroism
To The Collective Fitness Community,
This week, let's cut right to it: Hard times don't create heroes; they reveal them. What the hell does that even mean?
It means we often see tough moments—the setbacks, the unexpected challenges, the days that just feel like a real grind—as the place where we become stronger. And sure, we absolutely grow through struggle. But the ability to be brave, to stick with it, to be a total bad-ass? That was always inside you, just waiting. It’s not about suddenly becoming a new person when things get rough. It’s about seeing who you've been all along.
Remember that scene in Space Jam, when Jordans’s teammates thought they were drinking some "Special Stuff" to play like Jordan? They chugged that water, truly believing it was the secret, and suddenly, they were playing like pros. But it wasn't the water. It was the belief that they could play like that, that they had that skill within them. That fake drink just wiped away their doubts and showed them the talent and confidence they already had. That’s exactly what tough times do for us: they don’t give us courage, they just push us to see the courage we already own.
So, when the next obstacle pops up, don't go looking for some magic burst of strength or a sudden change in yourself. Understand that the power to get through it, to stand strong, to adjust and keep going, is already inside you. You don't need to make bravery appear; you just need to peel back the layers of worry and fear that are hiding it. That hero, that capable person who doesn't give up, has been with you all this time. The hard times are simply shining a light on what you're truly made of.
