Breakfast Hotdog

Ingredient List

  1. 2 oz (approximately 1/8th of a 16oz roll) Pork Roll Sausage

  2. 1 large Egg

  3. 1 Healthy Life Hot Dog Bun (80 calories)  

  4. 3 tbsp. Low Calorie Syrup (more to taste)

  5. 1/4 tsp. Cayenne Pepper (adjust to your spice preference)

  6. 1/4 tsp. Red Pepper Flakes (adjust to your spice preference)

  7. 1/4 tsp. Onion Powder

  8. 1 slice Low Fat Cheese (about 20g)

  9. Optional: Hot Sauce (a few dashes of your favorite low-calorie variety)

  10. Cooking spray or a tiny bit of oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pork Roll: Slice off approximately 2 ounces of the pork roll. Mix in your seasonings of choice. Try to form it into a more elongated hot dog shape with your hands.

    • Cooking: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add a little cooking spray or a tiny bit of oil. Cook the pork roll (slices or formed shape) for 3-5 minutes per side, or until fully cooked through and browned (internal temperature of 160°F or 71°C).

  2. Scramble the Egg: Lightly spray the same skillet (or use a clean one) with cooking spray and heat over medium-low heat. Pour in the whisked egg and cook, gently stirring and pushing it around the pan, until it is set but still slightly moist.

  3. Grill the Bun (Optional but Recommended): Lightly spray the inside of the Healthy Life hot dog bun with cooking spray. Place it cut-side down in the same skillet over medium heat for about 1-2 minutes, or until lightly toasted and warmed.

  4. Assemble the Breakfast Dog:

    • Place the cooked pork roll inside the griddled Healthy Life hot dog bun.

    • Top the pork roll with the scrambled egg.

    • Drizzle generously with low-calorie syrup.

    • Place the slice of low-fat cheese on top of the warm egg so it melts slightly.

    • If desired, add a few dashes of your favorite hot sauce.
